Experiments gone wrong

Hi everyone, Room 2 was busy writing up scientific experiments as part of procedural writing. We wrote up an experiment and brought in all the things we needed for the experiment.
The catch was, Miss J wanted us to do someone's elses experiment to see if we could follow their instructions!!  We all passed with flying colours. Here are some pictures.

This week we have been presenting our inquiry project that we have been working on all term. Our theme has been Medicine. Some ideas were accupuncture, artificial legs, bones, MRI equipment, colds / flu and body parts. We learnt a lot of different information about a range of medical treatments and themes. It was great that we got to pick our own topic of inquiry.  By Room 2

Don't forget to be writing the speeches for next term. Your children have been given their speech planning booklets with some hints and success criteria for them to follow. They don't need to be perfect (but they should be finished), as we will be editing throughout the first week. Thanks. Miss J. Have great holidays, get some rest and have fun.

writing scientific procedures

Room 2 has been learning to write Scientific procedures. You need a Hypothesis, Materials, Method, Results and a Conclusion. We wrote a whole class one on how to make popcorn. Our hypothosis was How long would it take for all the kernals to pop, we estimated 2.30seconds. This was exciting because we got to eat the popcorn afterwards.

Next week we are writing up our own experiments. Other students will then try to follow them and complete the experiment. This will interesting to see how well we wrote our instructions. We can't wait. By Abby.

Assembly items and reports

Today we had to run our Senior School Assembly. We showed our finished poisonous flowers which looked stunning as we walked around. Some of us got to dance on stage to the Elmo song. That was great fun. We did really well and everyone loved our items.

We have been writing reports about Anzac Day, Colin Murdoch and Louis Pasteur. Alena, Justine and Lewis, presented their reports at our assembly.

Next week we hope to have some pictures up of our finished flowers for you to see.

Also we started WOW - Word Of the Week. Our first word was undulating, this week Thomas picked - Quaeritate which means - to question. Look out in your children's communication books for next week's WOW. By Abby and Anthony
